How can we help?

How Cappture Cloud works and how to use it, from turning it on to connecting Claude.

Start here

Get started in three steps.

  1. Turn on Cloud

In Cappture on your Mac, open Settings › Cloud and turn it on. Each Mac turns it on for itself.

  2. Save your five security keys

They are shown once, when you turn Cloud on. Any one of them opens that Mac’s Cloud again on a new Mac. There is no reset.

  3. Share a link

Right-click a capture in your library and choose Share Link. Whoever you send it to opens it in their browser.

Getting started

Cloud is part of Cappture for Mac. It stays off until you turn it on, Mac by Mac.

What is Cappture Cloud?
An end-to-end encrypted place for your captures, built into Cappture for Mac: your library kept safe off your Mac, and share links you can send to anyone. Every Cappture licence comes with 5 GB of it. It is off until you turn it on.
How do I turn it on?
In Cappture, open Settings, then Cloud, and turn it on for that Mac. It makes your keys and shows you five security keys, once. Save them somewhere safe; then your captures start going up, sealed.
What is this dashboard for?
Sign in with the email your licence was bought with to see your share links, your Macs, your library as we hold it (sealed), your storage and your billing. A licence bought with another address can be added in Settings with its key. The dashboard can't open your captures; only your Macs can.
Do I have to use Cloud?
No. Cappture works fully without it, and everything stays on your Mac until you turn Cloud on.

Library sync

Each Mac's Cloud is sealed on that Mac, and opens with its keys alone.

Do my Macs share one library?
On a personal licence, no: one licence covers five Macs, often five people, so each Mac that turns Cloud on gets a Cloud of its own, with its own keys. No other Mac on the same licence can list, open or count what it holds. On a team, editors share one library; the Mac that made it approves each Mac that joins.
What gets uploaded?
The photos, screenshots and recordings in your library, each sealed on your Mac, up to 500 MB a capture. Anything bigger stays on your Mac, and so does anything you put in Hidden.
Can I get back something I deleted?
Yes, for thirty days. A deleted capture goes to Recently Deleted, in Cloud too, and is removed for good after that. Until then it still counts toward your storage.
I'm replacing my Mac. How do I bring its Cloud over?
On the new Mac, open Settings, then Cloud, and enter one of the old Mac's five security keys. The new Mac opens that Cloud itself and takes it over. After a reinstall, the same Mac opens its own Cloud the same way.
I've lost my security keys.
While the Mac still has its Keychain, its Cloud keeps working there. But the keys can't be shown again or reset, by us or anyone: lose the Mac and all five keys, and nobody can open that Cloud. That is what end-to-end encryption means.

Storage & billing

Every licence comes with 5 GB. Nothing is ever deleted because you ran out.

How much storage do I get?
5 GB with every Cappture licence. For more: 25 GB for $0.99 a month or $9.90 a year, 200 GB for $3.99 a month or $39.90 a year or 500 GB for $9.99 a month or $99.90 a year. A year is ten months' price. Cappture itself is $19.99 once.
What counts toward it?
Every capture in your library, the ones in Recently Deleted until they are removed for good, and the files behind share links that still open. Stopped and expired links count for nothing.
What happens when it's full?
New uploads and new links pause, and the app tells you. Nothing is deleted. We email you about it at most once a day. Make room or add storage, and they carry on.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Any time, from Billing. Stripe works out the difference for the rest of the period. Going below what you store pauses uploads; it never deletes anything.

Teams

A team shares one library and one pool of storage, paid for by the seat.

What does Teams cost?
$12 a seat a month, or $120 a seat a year, from 1 to 50 seats. Add or remove seats any time from Billing.
What does a seat include?
  • The whole of Cappture on each person’s Macs: every feature, the full editor included
  • Cappture Cloud with 50 GB a seat, pooled for the team, end-to-end encrypted, and more when you need it
  • Keys by role: owner and admins their own, editors one shared key, viewers none
  • Invite by email; move seats as people come and go
  • A live dashboard of every seat, Mac and link, with team analytics
  • One subscription and one invoice, monthly or annually
How does storage work on a team?
Each seat adds 50 GB to one pool the whole team uses, so one person can use more than their share while another uses less.
What is coming next for Teams?
Next, not yet built: a library the whole team shares, with folders; and comments on any capture.

Claude connector

Claude on the web, on your phone and in the desktop app can ask your Mac about your captures.

How do I connect Claude?
In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with https://cloud.getcappture.com/mcp. Claude asks you to sign in here, and to allow it. Then, in Cappture on your Mac, open Settings, then AI, turn on Let AI tools ask Cappture, and turn on Claude on the web. Step by step, with what Claude can do.
Does Claude read my Cloud?
No. Each request is passed to one of your Macs, which answers from its own captures. Your Cloud copies are sealed, so the server couldn't answer from them if it tried. A Mac has to be on, with Cappture open, to answer.
How do I disconnect it?
Revoke it under Connected apps in the dashboard’s Settings, which cuts it off at once. Or turn off Claude on the web on your Mac.
